RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a convenient way to keep track of news and other rapidly changing content. Instead of visiting all your favorite news sites frequently, you can view their collected headlines in one place. If something sounds interesting, you click on a headline and read the article.

To subscribe to RSS newsfeeds, you will need a feed reader. These are also known as aggregators, RSS readers, or news readers. Recent versions of most web browsers can aggregate feeds, and display them in the bookmarks list. Check the documentation of your web browser to see if it reads newsfeeds. Some web-based feed readers can display your feeds on a web page you configure. Or you can use newsreader software that's separate from your browser, to get more functionality.

Once you have your news reader set up, you add a site's newsfeed link to your reader. Depending on your software, you either click on the RSS link, or drag it to your reader. The RSS feed link is the orange icon at left.
